IP Key China at Fifth Dialogue on Administrative Protection of IPR of Foreign-Invested Enterprises

On 7 November 2023, the fifth Dialogue on Administrative Protection of IPR of Foreign-Invested Enterprises, hosted by the Quality Brand Protection Committee [EN11] of the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, was successfully concluded in Shanghai, China.

Gyta Berasneviciute-Singh, project leader of IP Key China, highlighted the project’s work with Chinese administration authorities and rights holder associations, emphasising the importance of intellectual property (IP) in economic growth. She addressed the digital environment’s challenges and the necessity for enhanced rights protection and enforcement on new IP rights infringing business models.

This Dialogue featured three panel discussions on various IP protection issues. A research report on the Evaluation of IPR Protection Index for E-commerce Platforms was announced at the event. Representatives from Chinese government agencies and international organisations also shared their experiences and insights.

Held annually since 2019, the Dialogue fosters communication between rights holders and administrative law enforcement departments. It aims to facilitate problem solving and mutual understanding for users of the IP system.
