Ecuador joins DesignView

As of 11 November 2019, Ecuador’s National Service of Intellectual Rights (SENADI) has made its design data available to the DesignView search tools.

With SENADI on board DesignView now contains data from 70 participating offices.

With the addition of more than 2600 industrial designs from SENADI, DesignView provides information and access to more than 14,8 million designs in total.

Argentina joins TMclass and Peru joins DesignClass

As of 04 November 2019, the National Institute of Industrial Property of Argentina (INPI) is part of TMclass. INPI will use and accept the list of terms from the harmonised database (HDB) in TMclass.

Also on 04 November 2019, the National Institute for the Defense of Free Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property of Peru (INDECOPI) will use and accept the list of terms from the harmonised database of product indications (HDBPI) DesignClass.

IP Key LA gathered Heads of IP Offices for a high-level encounter alongside the WIPO GA in Geneva

Designed for Heads of IP Offices – from both the EU and Latin America – the activity provided a forum for information exchange. The idea was to create synergy among the IP offices, share experiences and collect information from the heads of Latin American IP offices, who are closely involved in developing IP Key LA activities.

Alongside the WIPO General Assemblies in Geneva, this high-level encounter provided a golden opportunity to gather face-to-face feedback on the IP Key project from crucial stakeholders in Latin America.

Final 2019 IP Key Latin America activity focused on IP users’ experiences

IP Key LA, along with the Inter-American Association of Industrial Property (ASIPI) and the Registry of Industrial Property-Ministry of Commerce and Industries of Panama (DIGERPI), have organised the final activity of the project’s 2019 annual work plan, a seminar focused on the experiences of IP users in Central America.

Regional Workshop on Geographical Indications Enforcement in Central America

The activity consists of a two-day event organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Trade (COMEX), Costa Rica and dedicated to the Enforcement of Geographical Indications. This activity will gather representatives of the competent authorities of GIs in the Central America countries and EU Members States in San José, Costa Rica, from December 5 to 6, 2019.

The Enforcement of GIs brings EU and local experts to Mexico for a seminar

IP Key LA, along with the Mexican Institute of Intellectual Property (IMPI), has organized a Seminar on the Enforcement of Geographical Indications in Mexico City, in order to approach the existing measures in the area and how those can be improved, as well as exchanging information on transnational cases. The activity will provide a platform for discussion of best practices related to the enforcement of GIs and it’s expected to help participants prepare for the implementation of Mexican commitments under the modernized FTA.
