EUIPO and SPC of China Hosted Online Seminar on Trade Secret Protection and Bad Faith Filings

Date: 28 November 2024
Location: Online (Zoom)

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) hosted an online seminar, within the framework of IP Key China in collaboration with the Supreme People’s Court of China (SPC) on 28 November 2024, focusing on exchanging cases and practical experiences on trade secret protection and the challenges of bad faith filings.

The seminar featured in-depth case studies. EUIPO has extensive experience in handling bad faith filing cases. The EUIPO Board of Appeal shared EUIPO's experience in handling bad faith filing cases. Judges from the EU and China also shared their practical experience in handling trade secret cases and identifying challenges in bad faith filing, which deepened the understanding of both parties on related topics and promoted beneficial exchanges between Chinese and European judges.

The EUIPO can mobilise expertise in any IP area across its network of EU Agencies and partner IP institutions. This collaboration underscored the value of judicial cooperation in tackling complex IP issues, encouraged mutual learning and advanced robust intellectual property protection internationally.
