Copyright and the publishing landscape in Latin America and Europe to be addressed in upcoming webinar

IP Key LA has organised a digital conference focused on copyright protection and enforcement matters relevant to the publishing industries. The event is co-organized with the Federation of European Publishers (FEP), Centro de Administración de Derechos Reprográficos de Argentina (CADRA) and the Asociación de Entidades Periodísticas Argentinas (ADEPA).  Experts and relevant personalities from the industry will share their expertise with an audience of book publishers, copyright authorities, IP enforcement authorities and collective management organisations, among others. The activity is also supported by the International Publishers Association (IPA).

The conference is divided into two sessions: on 7 September 2020 the topic to be covered is ‘Copyright and the Current Challenges for Publishers in the European Union and Latin America’, while on 14 September 2020, the experts will focus on ‘Copyright Reform and the EU Digital Single Market Directive and its Impact on Latin American Stakeholders’.

The overall aim of the conference is to emphasise the importance of IP protection for the book publishing industry in Latin American countries and to analyse its critical role in the wake of rapidly growing challenges, including the phenomenon of content digitalisation and the increase in IP infringements in digital environments.

It will also provide a space in which to exchange knowledge on recent developments in the EU and Latin America regarding the protection of copyright and publisher rights and their impact on content management.
