Enforcement week – Seminar on border enforcement in MERCOSUR

A seminar dedicated to improving the protection and enforcement of intellectual property (IP) in Latin America took place in the Tri-Border region of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. As part of Enforcement Week, this event aimed to address the prevailing challenges facing Latin American countries in the fight against piracy and counterfeiting. By providing comprehensive training to customs officers and fostering cross-border cooperation, the seminar helped to create awareness on the capacity of law enforcement agencies by using practices with EU standards.

By bringing together experts from the EU Observatory, EU Member States and customs authorities, the seminar served as a platform to share invaluable knowledge and tools that can significantly contribute to more effective IP enforcement. With a specific focus on border enforcement against intellectual property infringement, the event aimed to strengthen criminal and border enforcement measures, including the identification and adjudication of counterfeit products.
