IP Key will participate in the Trade mark Experts Sub Regional Workshop of Central American countries and the Dominican Republic jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and The General Direction of Intellectual Property of Honduras (DIGEPIH). The activity will take place in Tegucigalpa, Honduras between October 17th - 19th, 2018, and is aimed mainly at trade mark examiners.

The main purpose of the Workshop is to gather expert examiners with trade mark experience from Central American countries and the Dominican Republic to analyse and review different aspects these countries have in common in the Trade mark registering process, as well as to make an in-depth examination of the different distinctive signs. The activity aims to explore the situation of trade mark practice in Central American countries, to assess the status quo within the different countries, to demonstrate the importance of homogeneous practices in trade mark procedures, and to foster the incorporation of best practices in proceedings of registration and protection of trade marks.

There will be sessions dedicated to the analysis of the principles established in the Harmonized Guidelines on criteria for registration of distinctive signs for the Central American countries and the Dominican Republic, already in place.
