Plant Variety Protection Workshop gathers technical examiners from 13 Latin American countries in Peru

The aim of the Regional Workshop on Cooperation in Examination of Plant Variety Protection (PVP) Applications is to enhance cooperation among examination offices.  To this end, technical examiners from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay have been invited to participate in the activity, that encourage PVP offices to discuss the use of molecular market techniques in DUS examination and to consider the mutual recognition of DUS test reports produced by other authorities to compare technical questionnaires used for the main crops in the region, as well as to discuss the best approaches for analysis of novelty and denomination, among others.

The workshop will take place in Lima, Peru and it is organized with the collaboration of CPVO, UPOV and INDECOPI. The presentations will be delivered by experts of these organizations, as well as technical examiners from participating countries, who will be asked to bring specific information related to the topics that will be covered in the activity.
