2025 SPC Study Visits to European Courts
Building on previous cooperation, a delegation of judges from the Supreme People’s Court of China (SPC) will visit the Unified Patent Court (UPC) Local Division of the Hague, the District Court of the Hague, the Netherlands, the UPC Court of Appeal in Luxembourg, and the École Nationale de la Magistrature in Paris, France, during the week of 9 June 2025.
The purpose of the visit is to facilitate peer-to-peer exchanges between the SPC and European courts on the practical challenges and judicial experience in patent trials.
Key topics to be addressed include, but are not limited to:
- patent litigation and related civil proceedings;
- trial experiences sharing from the UPC;
- competition law in the context of patent protection;
- recent developments in China’s judicial system for intellectual property (IP) rights.
This activity is expected to foster the exchange of case studies and judicial practices. It will focus on achieving a dynamic balance between robust IP protection and the prevention of IP abuse.
