Technical Feasibility Study on Possible Implementation of TMview

In close cooperation and consultation with one another, experts from the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) and OHIM are jointly undertaking a technical feasibility study examining the potential integration of SAIC's trademark data into TMview.

TMview is an online consultation tool that allows the user to search, free of charge, the trademarks of all official trademarks offices which are participating at the national, international and EU level. As such, it is a very valuable tool for use by the general public worldwide, especially SMEs. Moreover, TMview will be an exceedingly valuable tool for IP administrative and enforcement agencies, as it allows administrative officials as well as enforcement officials (such as police, customs officers and other investigators) and judges to examine trademarks both at headquarters during an examination procedure, as well as in the field during a raid or other investigatory procedure. Access to current trademark information (both European as well as Chinese) allows officers to have the information necessary to detain goods and inform rights holders, easing the time constraints necessary for obtaining preliminary injunctions, and other key positive enforcement impacts.

A detailed feasibility study is being carried out by trade mark and IT experts from SAIC's and OHIM's side.
