IP Café at South China University of Technology
IP Key China partnered with the Law School of South China University of Technology to hold an IP Café, part of a series of events from IP Key China, entitled IPR PROTECTION FOR THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY. EU copyright experts and academics from the Law School had a lively discussion on the complex issue. Presentations from both sides looked at circumvention of copyright laws, music in games, broadcasting issues and authorship versus ownership rights.
From a copyright perspective, video games are a complicated product as they involve several creative and design elements, which gave the EU and China experts as well as the audience a great opportunity to offer contributions based on their experiences across different sectors.
