Thailand Workshop on Customs Enforcement of IPRs

The Thailand Workshop on Customs Enforcement of IPRs took place on 21 and 22 September 2021. It aimed to facilitate technical discussions and an exchange of best practices between EU experts and Thai IP and customs authorities on possible solutions to address legal and administrative challenges related to IPR customs enforcement. It featured presentations on specific aspects of the EU IPR customs enforcement regime, including the coverage of all IP rights entitled to customs enforcement actions, the procedures for requesting action from customs authorities, the exercise of ex-officio powers, relevant tools and databases, and mechanisms for cooperation with rights holders. The activity facilitated the consideration and adoption of enhanced remedies for customs enforcement and border measures that are at par with international standards and practices, enabling IP rights owners and businesses to better enforce their IP rights.
