IP Key LA, along with the Mexican Institute of Intellectual Property (IMPI), has organized a Seminar on the Enforcement of Geographical Indications in Mexico City, in order to approach the existing measures in the area and how those can be improved, as well as exchanging information on transnational cases. The activity will provide a platform for discussion of best practices related to the enforcement of GIs and it’s expected to help participants prepare for the implementation of Mexican commitments under the modernized FTA.

The aim of the Regional Workshop on Cooperation in Examination of Plant Variety Protection (PVP) Applications is to enhance cooperation among examination offices.  To this end, technical examiners from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay have been invited to participate in the activity, that encourage PVP offices to discuss the use of molecular market techniques in DUS examination and to consider the mutual recognition of DUS test reports produced by other authorities to compare technical questionnaires used

Counterfeiting and piracy have a significant effect on the global economy, making it a priority issue for enforcement authorities. In light of this, IP Key China co-hosted a 3-day training course with the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China (MPS) on 28-31 October 2019 in Changchun, Jilin province.

Trade mark and design examination practices are an important part of IP Key LA’s work plans. In fact, they were the focus of four workshops held in Central America, the Andean region and Chile during 2018 and 2019. Offices throughout Latin America participated in these workshops to discuss best practices in the examination of trade marks and designs in the European Union (EU) and Latin America.
