2021 Plant Variety Rights Online Technical Training

IP Key China, in partnership with the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO), the Development Center of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (DCST, MARA) and the Plant Variety Right Protection Office of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration (PVPO, NFGA) of China, has organised the 2021 edition of the Plant Variety Rights Technical Training Course.

Malaysia joins DESIGNview

As of 8 November 2021, the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) has made its industrial designs available to the DESIGNview search tools.

With the addition of more than 39.000 industrial designs from MyIPO, DESIGNview provides information and access to more than 18.2 million designs in total.

Since the introduction of DESIGNview on 19 November 2012, the tool has served more than 6,8 million searches from 163 different countries, with the UK, Germany and China among the most frequent users.

Plant Variety Rights Technical Training - Plant Variety Protection Awareness raising seminar

The objective of the Administrative Agreement, signed by the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO), the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China, is to reach a similar scope of protection of plant variety rights in the European Union and in China. This will not only benefit breeders, but also farmers, producers and, ultimately, the public and consumers.

Support to the Accession of SEA Countries to the UPOV 1991 Convention

The activity sought to promote UPOV 1991 accession of countries in SEA by supporting the creation of a regional platform that would reduce the administrative burden for EU breeders to apply for protection of their PVRs and improve the registration procedures in the participating countries. The activity took place on 18 January 2022. It was a closed session and participation was limited to PVP Officials from the SEA countries.

Webinar on Plant Variety Protection and UPOV 1991

IP Key South-East Asia (SEA) Project, in collaboration with the Community Plant Variety Protection Office (CPVO), organised the ‘Webinar on Plant Variety Protection and UPOV 1991’ on Monday, 17 January 2022. This activity is a follow-up to prior activities on plant variety protection aimed at promoting effective plant variety protection systems in SEA in order to support the UPOV 1991 Act accession of countries in the region. The activity highlighted the benefits that PVP brings to socio-economic development and its contribution to agricultural sustainability.
