Technical discussions with the IP offices of Malaysia and Thailand on the enhancement of GI protection

IP Key SEA organises technical meetings on the enhancement of geographical indication (GI) protection on 26 and 30 June 2020 with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) and the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) Thailand, respectively. The activity aims to contribute to improving GI systems in South-East Asia for the benefit of GI producers and and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia and Thailand and those from the EU who need GI protection in these countries. GI producers and SMEs benefit from effective GI protection systems.

During the meetings, IP Key SEA and EU GI experts and GI officials from MyIPO and DIP Thailand exchange views on potential areas of improvement in the GI systems of the two countries.
