EUIPO Organises Advanced Training for DGIP and MyIPO Senior Patent Examiners in collaboration with EPO
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) organised an Advanced Training Programme on Patent Search and Examination of Computer-Implemented Inventions (CII) in collaboration with the European Patent Office (EPO). The programme, which was organised in the context of the IP Key South-East Asia Project and took place from 7 to 11 October 2024, followed a ‘train-the-trainer’ approach and involved 20 senior patent examiners from Indonesia’s Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) and the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).
Computer-implemented inventions play a crucial role in today’s innovation landscape, and strengthening the expertise of patent examiners not only safeguards innovators’ intellectual property but also promotes the development of new technologies that benefit society.
The programme aimed to modernise IP administration services by promoting the adoption of EU standards and enhancing the skills of professionals involved in managing intellectual property rights. Moreover, it strengthened the collaboration between the EUIPO and the national IP offices in South-East Asia.
Through these activities, the EUIPO, as the EU’s implementing agency of IPR projects, leverages its vast network of EU agencies and partner IP institutions such as the EPO to mobilise expertise and deliver technical assistance in any area of IP.
