Fact Finding Missions through South East Asia

During the two Fact Finding Missions through South East Asia, held between October and November 2017, contacts with a vast array of stakeholders gave rise to numerous ideas and areas of mutual cooperation. IP Key SEA team held more than 15 meetings with more than 40 stakeholders from 4 countries –representing both EU and local interests. The IP Key project clearly attained the main goals of the inception phase, namely to:

  • make progress on key aspects of cooperation with IP stakeholders, EU business and trade representatives in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines;
  • pave the way to the launch of IP Key SEA with the most relevant Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, and Filipino stakeholders and trigger their interests to carry out activities within the IP Key SEA project framework;
  • present the programme and strengthen contacts with EU stakeholders;
  • set the future modus operandi with the Contracting Authority;
  • identify logistical challenges and possible solutions;
  • determine areas of interest, expectations and priorities of the various stakeholders with a view to mapping out a set of activities that could possibly be included in the first Annual Work Plan;
  • identify future implementing partners and the institutions that would serve as focal points in different markets.
