IP Key SEA organized a series of online workshops on patent search and examination
IP Key SEA, in collaboration with the European Patent Office (EPO), organized a series of online workshops on patent search and examination under the project’s 3rd Annual Work Plan. The events ran from June to October 2020 and targeted senior patent examiners from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
The events aimed to continue supporting the enhancement of the capabilities of the SEA patent examiners in conducting their search and examination work. Several aspects of the search and examination processes were explored in-depth throughout the two series of online workshops, namely ‘Workshop on Advanced and Efficient Patent Search for Examiners’ and ‘Workshop on Quality Patent Examination’. The former offered an introduction to European patent search tools and best practices on advanced and efficient patent searching, among other topics. Meanwhile, the latter workshop provided an opportunity for hands-on discussions and practical exercises on topics such as the requirements of sufficient disclosure, clarity, and unity of invention in specific fields of inventions.
