IP Key LA – EUIPO study is highlighted during event on the economic impact of intellectual property in Peru

The European project, Intellectual Property Key Latin America (IP Key LA), in conjunction with INDECOPI (Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual), recently launched a study on the economic contribution of industrial property-intensive industries in Peru. This study gives an account of the most important areas of the local economy and the percentage of participation that the companies that most protect their IP rights represent.

INDECOPI organised an event a few days later about the importance of IP protection and its impact on the local economy, which included the participation of the President of the Republic, Francisco Sagasti, among other important authorities.

Throughout the event, IP Key LA and the EUIPO were recognised as key partners in research, technical cooperation and the strong partnerships they promote in the area of IP.

During the two-day Economic and Social Contribution of Intellectual Property in Peru: News and Reflections event, the different experts explained that it is the protection of these rights and the use of Peru’s diversity that is the necessary engine for sustained industrial and economic development over time.
