International Tequila seminar a great success
Last week, the event "Advances in Geographical Indications: Latest Trends and Global Challenges" was held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Denomination of Origin (DO) of Tequila and the 30th anniversary of the Consejo Regulador del Tequila A.C. (Tequila Regulatory Council).
The seminar, held at the Chamber of Commerce in Guadalajara, Jalisco, brought together distinguished industry experts, academics, government officials and tequila enthusiasts from around the world. There was also a high level of virtual participation with more than 1103 online participants over the two days of the seminar.
During the seminar, relevant aspects such as the trajectory and transcendence of the Tequila DO, current trends in the industry and the prospective challenges faced by this and other Geographical Indications (GIs) around the world were addressed.
Participants had the opportunity to engage in panel discussions, keynote speeches and tastings of DO and GI products, allowing for the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Emphasis was placed on the tequila industry's continued commitment to working in a sustainable manner and to preserving the quality and authenticity of this famed drink, reaffirming its position as a cultural emblem of Mexico and an international benchmark.
The IP Key Latin America project is grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this event held by our colleagues from the Consejo Regulador del Tequila, whose work has strengthened the promotion and safeguarding of Tequila as an integral part of Mexican heritage and as a globally recognised hallmark.
To all the attendees, collaborators and sympathisers, our most sincere appreciation for making this meeting an enriching and transcendental experience.
