IP Key LA fosters debate on Trade Mark, Design Examination Guidelines and on Unconventional Trade Marks

IP Key LA and the Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio (SIC) of Colombia organized a Regional Workshop on Trade Marks and Designs Examination Guidelines, with the collaboration of the Andean Secretariat and in the context of IP Key’s cooperation with PROSUR. The goal was to promote connectable discussions with regard to offices’ practices in different trade mark and industrial design registration processes.

The activity, which took place on November 26th and 27th, 2018, gave participants the opportunity to exchange experiences on the current practice of Latin American IP offices on trade mark and design registration procedures. Participants also had the chance to consider the development of examination guidelines.

On November 28th, the Regional Workshop on Unconventional Trade Marks served as an opportunity to exchange experiences on the registration of non-traditional trademarks of their respective countries with emphasis on the representation and distinctiveness requirements for this type of trade marks.
