Training programme for SE Asia IP officials to benefit patent examination services

IP Key SEA and the European Patent Office (EPO) held a ‘Train-the-Trainers’ programme for patent examiners from ten IP offices across Southeast Asia. The event was a follow-up to the series of workshops held by the EPO for Southeast Asian IP offices during which training modules were prepared for use as part of the respective training programs of the offices. The representatives from the IP offices are expected to report on the progress of the integration of these training modules into internal training programs and the challenges they encountered.

IP Café at South China University of Technology

IP Key China partnered with the Law School of South China University of Technology to hold an IP Café, part of a series of events from IP Key China, entitled IPR PROTECTION FOR THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY. EU copyright experts and academics from the Law School had a lively discussion on the complex issue. Presentations from both sides looked at circumvention of copyright laws, music in games, broadcasting issues and authorship versus ownership rights.

IP Café at South China University of Technology

To explore digital copyright themes, on December 18 IP Key China and South China University of Technology (SCUT) hosted an IP Café on their campus in Guangzhou. The event primarily looked at copyright in relation to the video games industry as well as explored related issues in the digital environment such as licensing, piracy and cloning.
