The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), as host of the Observatory on Infringements, organised and led a key discussion on enforcement, on 3 October 2024, in the city of São Paulo, within the hybrid event ‘Sharing best practices with platforms: Combating the sale of counterfeit products on the internet’ in the context of the IP Key LA project.

Trade secrets play a critical role for maintaining a competitive edge of businesses by protecting valuable confidential information. In China, significant legal reforms, such as the 2019 amendments to the Anti-Unfair Competition Law (AUCL), have enhanced the protection of trade secrets. Despite these advancements, challenges remain, particularly in enforcement and judicial consistency.

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), in the context of IP Key South-East Asia (IP Key SEA), an EU-funded project, in partnership with the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP), Ministry of Commerce, will organise the Geographical Indications Exhibition: Promoting Rural Development and Tourism from 1 to 6 October 2024 at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC).

On 13 September 2024, the Seminar on New Developments and Challenges in Strengthened IP Protection System in the EU and China took place in Beijing, China, under the China Intellectual Property Annual Conference (CIPAC). The event, organised by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), in the context of the EU-funded project IP Key China, and the Intellectual Property Publishing House (IPPH) under the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), was held at the Zhongguancun Innovation Center.

A Chinese delegation of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China (SPP) participated in a two-day EIPPN meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, on 12 and 13 September 2024, with support from the IP Key China, EU-funded project implemented by EUIPO.
