Seminar on Plant Varieties in Ecuador

Ecuador is a major exporter of roses, with European breeders owning many varieties. One of this activity’s main objectives is to raise awareness among flower growers on the importance of the IP system and understanding plant variety rights.

This seminar is aimed at florists in a region close to the largest rose producers in Ecuador. It will focus on explaining the global rose market and the importance of the plant variety protection system for its proper functioning. Moreover, experts from Colombia and Peru will be invited to provide another perspective on the issue. Francesco Mattina, President of the Community Plant Variety Office, will join as the event’s guest of honour.
