IP Key LA Hosted, along with EUIPO, a New Workshop on Trade Marks and Designs Examination Practice

In the context of a week-long Technical Workshop on Tools and Practices developed under the European Union Intellectual Property Network (EUIPN), organised by the EUIPO in San José, Costa Rica, IP Key LA co-hosted a Regional Workshop on Trade Mark and Design Examination Practices.

This workshop gathered IP experts from the IP Offices of Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Experts from the participating IP offices had the opportunity to exchange information, knowledge and experiences in this regard with experts from the EUIPO, the Spanish Patent and Trade Mark Office (OEPM), that is part of the EUIPN, and the National Institute for the Defence of Free Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI).

During the workshop, common interests and areas of opportunity for future activities were identified, as well as similarities in the application of criteria of the IP offices with the principles on which the common practices developed under the Intellectual Property Network of the European Union (EUIPN) are based.
