Studies in support of International Treaties

The activity consists of tailor-made studies to assist Uruguay in preparing for the accession to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), Costa Rica to the accession to the Madrid Protocol, and Argentina to the Vienna Agreement establishing an International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks.

The studies will include: the benefits of these treaties; requirements for accession; country-specific preparatory work in the legal area (implementing provisions, possible declarations to be made on accession), based on an analysis of the trade mark/design/patent law and regulations and the replies to a questionnaire on office practice circulated in advance; a brief consideration of other matters to be considered regarding organisational, procedural and information technology issues.
