IP Key Labs on Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property

On Thursday 31 August 2023, over 430 people joined our last IP Key Labs of the year. The webinar’s theme was artificial intelligence (AI) and intellectual property (IP).

The first panel – conducted in Spanish – included Micaela Mantegna from the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University in Argentina. She explained some significant concepts related to AI. Subsequently, an interesting debate took place between her and Marco Morales, Acting Director General of the National Institute of Copyright (INDAUTOR) in Mexico, on topics related to AI and IP. To close the session, the speakers answered the participants’ questions, revealing the audience’s keen interest in the subject.

The second panel – conducted in Portuguese – involved Alice Lana, Head of Research at InternetLab in Brazil, sharing her experience at the intersection of AI and IP. Luca Schirru, Researcher at CiTiP (KU Leuven) and Executive Director and Researcher at the Brazilian Institute of Copyright (IBDAutoral), provided an enriching perspective on this topic. The debate that followed between both speakers was also very informative.

If you missed the live event or would like to revisit it, you can access the recording of the second panel (in Portuguese) on our YouTube channel and in the new ‘Learning’ section of our website. Here you can also access the recordings of previous IP Key Labs.
