A successful first IP Key Labs of 2024

This year’s first IP Key Labs event took place on 29 February with great success. It attracted an international audience of over 400 people, eager to learn about the world of trade marks and intellectual property (IP).

The event ‘Trends in Trademarks: Non-Traditional Trademarks and Trademarks for Virtual Goods and Services in the Metaverse’ brought together various experts in the field who shared their vast knowledge and experience with the attendees.

The speakers were Liina Maks from the European Intellectual Property Office’s Legal Department; María José Rodríguez Alonso, Head of the Traditional Trademarks Examination Area of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office; Andréa Possinhas, Partner of Gruenbaum, Possinhas & Teixeira (Brazil); and Carmen Paz Álvarez, Partner of Muñoz Jeanneret Álvarez y Cía (Chile).

The topics discussed during the event covered areas such as trends in non-traditional trade marks and in trade marks for virtual goods and services, as well as non-traditional trade mark trends specific to Latin America.

With simultaneous translation between Spanish and Portuguese, the event offered an enriching and accessible experience for participants from the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay and Venezuela.

With such wide participation and relevant content, the first IP Key Labs 2024 was a resounding success that marked the beginning of an exciting year in IP and branding.
