A journey through the Continent’s Geographical Indications

This activity stemmed from the participation of the European Union as the Guest of Honour at the 37th edition of the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) in Guadalajara, Mexico, held from 25th November to 3rd December 2023.

The activity consisted on a 3-day seminar in Asuncion, Paraguay, and gathered over 30 international guests from several organizations specializing in intellectual property and observance. Likewise, the event counted with the presence of 15 prosecutors and police investigators from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, and Uruguay. The workshop was held through November 14 to 16, 2023.

The conference will focus on the latest developments in the areas of trade marks and industrial designs, the impact of technological developments in the protection and enforcement of marks, and improvements in online tools. Bad faith registrations and other issues in the enforcement of trade marks as well as recent developments in the industrial design regimes of the EU and SEA countries will also be discussed.
