Regional seminar about the Singapore treaty on the law of trademarks

WIPO and the Dirección General del Registro de la Propiedad Industrial (DIGERPI) from Panamá, along with the IP Key project, will organize a seminar that will cover operational aspects, as well as, benefits and specificities of the Singapore Treaty on Trademarks Law. IP Key LA participates in the event organization showing support in promoting regional cooperation and a deeper integration in IPR procedures.

Innovation, Business and Intellectual Property

IP Key LA will organize the seminar “Innovation, Business and Intellectual Property (IP)”. This seminar is designed to provide SMEs with a basic introduction to IP, and allow attendees to understand how to incorporate IP-based considerations into business strategies and how to defend strategic IP assets. This activity is organized in collaboration with IP Offices from Mercosur countries and Chile, Chambers of Commerce (binational and local) as well as Business organizations.

Plant varieties protection: seminars and workshop

IP Key Latin America will visit Peru and Ecuador next August to promote best practices and generate awareness about the protection of plant varieties. The activities, organized with the collaboration of CPVO, UPOV, INDECOPI and SENADI will be a regional seminar of two and a half days that will take place in Lima and a two-day national seminar in Quito.

IP Key LA, WIPO and Colombian authorities organized seminar about Enforcement of IPR

Since the beginning of the project, the work of IP Key Latin America has had a strong focus on promoting legal expertise in the field of Intellectual Property throughout Latin America, with the purpose of implementing theory and best practices in the area of intellectual property, drawing on the skills and expertise of judges, public prosecutors, court experts, lawyers and IP attorneys practicing before their national courts, as well as law enforcement officers working in the field.

Trademarks and industrial designs to benefit IP officials and local businesses

Between 10-15 August, the IP Key SEA team organised a series of seminars on trademarks and industrial designs for stakeholders in three ASEAN Member States. ‘The Roving Seminar for IP Officials on the Registration and Enforcement of Trademarks and Industrial Designs’ was held in Indonesia and Thailand, while the ‘Roving Seminar on EU Trademarks and Community Designs for EU and Southeast Asian Companies’ took place in Thailand and Viet Nam.

The Cuban Office of Industrial Property (OCPI) joins TMclass

As of 08 August 2018 the Cuban Office of Industrial Property (OCPI) joins TMclass with the latest version of the Nice classification.

This last addition brings the total number of national and regional IP Offices, including OAPI, WIPO and EUIPO, in the tool to 71.

TMclass offers users the opportunity to search and translate goods and services to and from any of the 44 available languages available.

Costa Rica, Honduras and Uruguay join Flagship tools

As of 30 July 2018 the National Directorate of Industrial Property under the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining of Uruguay (DNPI) has made its trade mark and design data available to the TMview and DesignView search tools.

Also on 30 July 2018 the General Directorate of Intellectual Property of Honduras (DIGEPIH) has made its design data available to DesignView.

Equally on 30 July 2018 DNPI and the National Registry Centre of El Salvador (CNR) join TMclass with the latest version of the Nice classification.
