The EUIPO shares insights and best practices to protect trade marks and industrial designs
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) promotes the convergence of trade mark and industrial design practices at the international level. Its aim is to simplify the application and registration process for users of the IP system within the EU and beyond.
To this end, the EUIPO organised a conference and two workshops as part of the #IPKeySEA project in Manila, Philippines, bringing together experts on trade marks and industrial designs from both the EU and Southeast Asia. The conference covered the latest updates on the legal frameworks governing trade marks and industrial designs in the EU and Southeast Asia while at the same time, the workshops provided examiners with valuable insights and best practices.
The conference and workshops also included discussions on the impact of technological advancements in the protection and enforcement of IP rights, as well as the examination work carried out by the SEA IP Offices.
Held in a hybrid format from 30 September to 2 October 2025, the events attracted more than 200 participants, including over 100 trade mark and industrial design examiners from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines and Indonesia’s Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP).
