EU-China roundtable on copyright protection in the digital environment

On 13 December 2023, the EU-China roundtable on copyright protection in the digital environment was successfully held in Harbin, China. This meeting marked the ongoing in-depth cooperation between the IP Key China Project and the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC).

This roundtable discussion, held in the framework of the revised China Copyright Law effective from June 1, 2021, builds upon the outcomes of past activities in partnership with the NCAC. The event provided a platform to delve into updated perspectives on copyright and related rights protection and enforcement in the digital environment in Europe and China.

Wang Zhicheng, Director General of Copyright Department of the National Copyright Administration of China, Tan Yuhong, Executive Deputy Director General of Publicity Department of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee (Heilongjiang Provincial Copyright Bureau) and Gyta BERASNEVICIUTE-SINGH, the Project Leader of IP Key China, extended a warm welcome to participants and delivered opening remarks.

The closed-door meeting attracted over 80 participants, including experts from the EU Member States, the National Copyright Administration of China, and representatives from the Heilongjiang Copyright Office, European and Chinese academics, international copyright-related associations representing right holders and users.
